It is hard to believe that this is the fifth year for this annual event that raises funds to benefit the children, teachers, and at-risk daycare centers we work with throughout North Texas. Because of funds raised from this luncheon EFS now brings quality early education to 6,000 at-risk children birth to age 5, teaches and mentors over 850 teachers, working in 93 independently owned and operated daycare centers and registered and licensed homes in at-risk neighborhoods in 6 North Texas counties.
We’re thrilled to announce our annual One Childhood, One Chance Luncheon will take place on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Omni Hotel Dallas (555 S. Lamar St. Dallas, TX 75202) from 11:30 am until 1 pm.
This year’s event features keynote speaker Sonia Manzano, who inspired, educated and delighted children and families as “Maria” on Sesame Street for more than 30 years. Named among the “25 Greatest Latino Role Models Ever” by Latina Magazine, Manzano broke ground as one of the first Hispanic characters on national television. Manzano will be discussing her latest book, Becoming Maria: Love and Chaos in the South Bronx, and sharing her personal life experiences with us as Maria from Sesame Street.
Co-chairs: Merry Munson Wyatt, Kathryn Munson Beach and Megan Munson McGonigle
Honorary co-chairs: David Jr., Charles and John Munson, cousins of Merry, Kathryn and Megan
