The Community Steps Up

Educational-First-Steps_HR-1253Educational First Steps has exceeded our $5 million goal for our ‘Step Up’ program expansion campaign launched in April 2014, raising more than $5.9 million from more than 730 individuals and foundations in Dallas. With this groundswell of support, we are bringing high-quality early education to 4, 800 North Texas at-risk children every year, setting them on a path to school and life success. By building a comprehensive system of support that nationally accredits and helps sustain  low income childcare centers and professionalizes the field of early education by training and mentoring their teachers, Educational First Steps makes it makes it possible for impoverished working families to access critical quality early learning experiences for their children, in their own neighborhoods, for generations to come.

Urgent Needs

Accelerated & Sustained Quality Building

By rapidly adding classrooms, we will expand the path to quality in addition to providing ongoing support to help centers sustain accreditation.

Enhanced Service to Early Childhood Providers

We will launch two new pilot programs:

  • Enrollment services that help quality centers to reach capacity and build economic stability
  • Professional development for home-based childcare providers, especially in the rapidly growing Hispanic community
