PNC has announced its partnership with Educational First Steps to support its Child Development Associates (CDA) program with a $45,000 grant. This grant will enable 40 EFS partner center teachers to receive advanced early childhood education training, consisting of a rigorous 120-hour curriculum.
Since 1990, Educational First Steps has helped transform countless low-income neighborhood daycare centers into nationally accredited early learning centers. Today, Educational First Steps is partnering with over 100 low-income daycare centers across North Texas, serving more than 6,000 at-risk children.
“Educational First Steps’ mission is to increase the number of economically disadvantaged children receiving high-quality early education. All children need and deserve a strong start in their lives and their education,” said EFS Executive Director Van Sheets. “For that to happen, we must have the most qualified teachers, and this CDA certification, like all our services, is offered for free to our EFS partners, is critical in achieving that goal. We are thankful to PNC for its support of EFS and the CDA program.”
“We’re dedicated to helping underserved children from birth through age 5 prepare to enter kindergarten ready to learn through PNC Grow Up Great, our company’s $350 million, multi-year initiative,” said Brendan McGuire, PNC regional president and head of corporate banking for Dallas-Fort Worth. “This initiative enables us to partner with dedicated organizations like Educational First Steps as they improve access to high quality early childhood education and credentialed teachers – a significant need throughout the Metroplex.”
